Are you passionate about books and reading? Do you think you have the skills, enthusiasm, experience and contacts to help curate and programme a local book festival? Then Borderlines Carlisle is keen to hear from you!

Borderlines Book Festival is an annual celebration of the written and spoken word in Carlisle, Cumbria. Over the last six years, the festival has established itself as a focus for literary excellence, attracting high quality speakers, nurturing and showcasing local writing talent, providing new opportunities for local people to experience literature and raising the profile of Carlisle nationally.  After unfortunately having to cancel 2020’s festival due to Covid19, Borderlines is pleased to be working towards an in-person festival in October 2021. Although scaled back in comparison with recent years the festival will still have a strong local focus whilst also including higher profile, national authors where possible.

To help deliver this vision, the Borderlines Festival Committee is looking for a dynamic and enthusiastic person to assist in the creation of the 2021 programme as a Festival Producer.  The role of the Festival Producer will be to craft and develop an exciting and engaging programme spread over the festival weekend of the 1st to 3rd October.

Borderlines Book Festival has been developed through partnership working between public and private enterprise. The three partners are: Bookends of Carlisle; Cumbria County Council’s Library Service and Tullie House Museum & Art Gallery Trust.
