Jim Crumley, Lakeland Wild

The Lake District as you’ve never seen it before

One of Scotland’s most acclaimed and prolific authors of award-winning nature books, Jim Crumley, turns his distinctive eye on the Lake District, one of our busiest national parks. Many believe that wildness is long gone from its fells, lakes, tarns and becks. In Lakeland Wild, Crumley sets out to prove them wrong, and find “a new way of seeing and writing about this most seen and written about of landscapes.” He visits the turned-aside places where nature thrives, from low-lying shores to a high mountain oakwood that’s not even on the map, tracing this land’s place in the evolution of global conservation, while making the case for a far-reaching reappraisal of all of Lakeland’s wildness. Lakeland Wild was a Cumbria Life Book of the Month June 2021.
