Amanda Owen

Adventures of the Yorkshire Shepherdess

Amanda Owen and her family recently featured in hit TV series Our Yorkshire Farm, watched by over 2 million viewers who admired the grittiness of this farming family. This mum of nine (ranging in age from two to seventeen) and shepherdess to a thousand sheep brings us up-to-date with life on the farm with her husband Clive, nine children and umpteen animals at Ravenseat in the Yorkshire Dales.

Amanda Owen grew up in Huddersfield but was inspired by the James Herriot books to leave her town life behind and head to the countryside. After working as a freelance shepherdess, cow milker and alpaca shearer, she eventually settled down as a full-time shepherdess with her own flock of sheep at Ravenseat. Adventures of the Yorkshire Shepherdess is the third volume of her memoirs. Last year she was voted Yorkshirewoman of the Year by the Dalesman magazine
