Provoking the Creative Brain

‘Poetry is everywhere; it just needs editing.’ – James Tate

In this workshop, Katie will explore the big one: inspiration. By looking at subjects through an extreme zoom lens, you will find ways to prod yourselves out of creative lethargy – and then to fan the flames of an idea once that initial match has been struck.

Cumbrian-born Katie Hale’s debut poetry collection, Breaking the Surface (Flipped Eye), explores boundaries and transformation. A winner of the Jane Martin Poetry Prize and the Ware Poetry Prize, she is currently working with Penguin Random House on her first novel, My name is Monster. Her poetry has been published in Poetry Review, The North and Interpreter’s House, among others.
