Writing the Seasons

Jim Crumley will talk about nature writing, with particular emphasis on his new book, The Nature of Winter and its predecessor, The Nature of Autumn, the first two volumes in a quartet of the seasons which are the result of thousands of hours of fieldwork, covering encounters with golden eagles, red deer, swans, ravens, foxes and more. Jim will take you into the heart of each season, giving a glimpse of what challenges and opportunities present themselves.

Jim Crumley is a nature writer and journalist  with more than 30 books to his name, mostly on the landscape and wildlife of Scotland. As a highly knowledgeable and inspiring wildlife expert, he is in high demand as a contributor for TV and radio, as well as publications such as the Scotsman and BBC Wildlife. He has won, and been shortlisted for, a variety of awards for his journalism, and shortlisted for the Saltire Society and Wainwright prizes for his books. Jim Crumley is also a widely published poet, writes a monthly nature column for the Scots Magazine and is an occasional radio broadcaster

Jim Crumley will also lead a nature writing workshop on Saturday, October 6th at 3.00pm in the Tullie House Museum & Gallery Meeting Room
