James Rebanks in conversation with Polly Atkin (STOP PRESS) Event Change

We are very pleased to announce the late addition of James Rebanks and Polly Atkin to the Borderlines lineup this year, and thank James and Pollyfor stepping in at the last minute, when Hunter Davies had to cancel his event due to illness.

James Rebanks, also known as The Herdwick Shepherd, is a working shepherd in Matterdale, where his family have farmed for over 600 years. His first book, The Shepherd's Life, was an international bestseller and was chosen as Lakeland Book of the Year in 2015 and  was also The Sunday Times memoir of the year. He became a Twitter sensation when tweeting about his own everyday farming life. He is equally passionate about his family, farming,  countryside, community, literature and Cumbria. He continues to work his farm and is currently writing his third book.

Polly Atkin lives in Grasmere.Her first full poetry collection, Basic Nest Architecture is followed bya third pamphlet, With Invisible Rain,which draws on  Dorothy Wordsworth's late journals to find a way to articulate pain. She has taught  Creative Writing at the universities of Lancaster, Strathclyde and Cumbria. She has collaborated with James on rural writing workshops.She is a Penguin Random House Write Now mentee, for a forthcoming non-fiction book reflecting on place, belonging and chronic illness
