Philosophy: The Mystique of Existentialism
Existentialism was one of the most influential intellectual movements of the 20th century, surging from its 19th century Kierkegaardian foundations in reaction against the experience of Nazi domination and occupation. In this workshop we will look of some of its exponents, including Jean-Paul Sartre, Simone de Beauvoir and Albert Camus, who have left a rich literary and philosophical legacy.
Darren Harper has a first class honours degree in English & Creative Writing, a PGCE, and is currently undertaking postgraduate study. He is the founder of the Philosophical & Literature Society in Carlisle, which offers a range of day and evening classes in the humanities. He also teaches at various adult residential colleges throughout the country.
