Hinterland – a memoir
All serious politicians should possess a hinterland, but unlike Chris Mullin, not all do. By the time he entered parliament, he had reported from the wars in Vietnam, Laos and Cambodia. He led the successful campaign to free the innocent people convicted of the Birmingham bombings. In parliament he was a fearless inquisitor, and went on to become a minister in three departments. He has also written three widely acclaimed volumes of diaries. Hinterland is his autobiography.
Former Carlisle M.P., Eric Martlew, will introduce Chris and host a 20 minute Q and A session after his talk
Author, journalist and former Labour minister, Chris Mullin has also written three novels, the best known of which, 'A Very British Coup' a classic political thriller, and said to be the novel that foretold the rise of Corbyn, was made into a successful television series. He was the MP for Sunderland South from 1987 to 2010.
