Borderlines Carlisle Book Festival Art Competition ‘Read-Design’

TICKETS ON SALE NOW

Borderlines 2018 will see the inclusion of a literary-themed art competition, ‘Read-Design’ throughout the festival week.

To enter the competition, artists will need to design a book cover and be inspired to re-interpret their favoured choice through artistic expression. Whether you have an idea for To Kill a Mockingbird or are inspired by Catch 22, we would love to see your creativity and imagination take flight for the festival.

There is a first prize of £50 and a selection of artworks will be showcased in The Crown and Mitre during the festival.

The competition will be judged by local artist, Graham Twyford.

How do I Enter

How do I present my entry?

Your entry should be no bigger than A3, and can be in your preferred medium (i.e. oils, watercolour), and preferably on a pre-brought canvas on stretcher bars.

Entrants should take a photograph of their submission, and upload it here. You’ll need the reference code from your ticket.

Our judge will then choose the top ten submissions, to be displayed to the public. The artwork must arrive in a practical condition where it can already be displayed on an easel without any input from the Borderlines team. Submissions do not have to be framed, but can be so if you choose.
