Competition theme: ‘Exile’

Why not try your hand at winning a poetry competition?

  • First Prize - £200
  • Three runners-up will be awarded books and Certificates of Commendation

The competition will be judged by poet and author Kathleen Jones

Kathleen is a Fellow of the English Society and the Royal Literary Fund, has written two novels and several acclaimed biographies and in 2011 was awarded the Straid Poetry Prize for her fourth collection of poems. Find out more about Kathleen Jones here http://www.kathleenjones.co.uk/

Conditions of Entry

  • Entries are invited for original poems of no more than 40 lines.
  • Entry fee £5.00 per poem entered. You can enter a maximum of 3 poems.
  • Entrants should be over 16 years of age.
  • No entry should have been accepted for publication, read on radio/television or stage or have been awarded a prize in any other competition.
  • Competition deadline - August 31st 2017

Format for Entries

  • Entries should be submitted online as a Word document, double-spaced with the title of the poem and a nom-de plume followed by the poem.

The winning poems will be read at a showcase evening at Borderlines Festival on Saturday October 7th
